Doll Parts

For those of you in the Philadelphia area, or nearby, you are in for a treat! The second annual Philly Loves Women in Horror Film Festival, an event that is part of Philadelphia Women in Horror Month, is taking place on Saturday, February 22, 2014 beginning at 3:00 PM. The event is designed to showcase and celebrate female filmmakers who specialize in the horror genre. Best of all admission is free!

Created by Ashlee Blackwell, founder of Graveyard Shift Sisters blog and a contributor to this site and many others, the festival will feature a slew of innovative works from female directors hailing from the United States, Canada, and Tasmania. There will also be a discussion panel, moderated by Women in Horror Month founder Hannah Neurotica, focusing on how female filmmakers are changing the horror landscape.

Though the event is free, the organizers will be accepting charitable donations to Lil Filmmakers, a local non-profit organization that gives youth an opportunity to learn all aspects of filmmaking under the guidance of founder and Temple University film school graduate Janine Spruill.
