Cosmos

The third episode of Can’t Stop the Movies’ special retrospective on director Denis Villeneuve unexpectedly hits close to home for host Andrew Hathaway this week. Fortunately, I had my trusty Dr. Phil cap close by to help him through the fish-narrated, depression-laced, Genie-sweeping Maelström. The film follows Bibiane (Marie-Josée Croze) as her life hits rock bottom when she is involved in a hit-and-run accident. Things are further complicated when she finds herself falling for Evian (Jean-Nicolas Verreault), the son of the man whom she accidently hit. Before tackling the heavy, and at times darkly funny, aspects of Maelström, we turn our attention to the media satire Le’ Technétium, Villeneuve’s short film contribution to the anthology film Cosmos.

As always, give the show a listen and let us know your thoughts. You can find it on iTunes, download it here, or stream it below.
