Shorts Spotlight: Alma
As most of us are putting the finishing touches on the Christmas wrapping; today’s short should help to put you in a festive mood…or at least make you think twice about that toy under the tree. Directed by Rodrigo Blaas, an animator who worked on The Incredibles, Finding Nemo, Wall-E and Up for Pixar, Alma tells the tale of a precocious little girl who sees the perfect doll in a shop window. Discovering that the store door is unlocked, Alma is sneaks in to get a closer look at the doll. However, Alma soon realizes that some toys are best left alone. Providing a devilishly delightful spin on a seemingly simple tale, Alma finds the perfect balance between sweet and chilling. DreamWorks Animation is currently developing a feature film based on the short, for which Guillermo del Toro was once linked, but there are no details on when the film will hit theatres.
