Music is an essential aspect to many of the great horror films. To celebrate Halloween, the Film Jive podcast invited nearly twenty film bloggers and podcasters to share their favourite moments of music in horror movies. Looking at the great roster of guests they managed to pull together, I am humbled to even be asked to take part. So I encourage you give the aptly title “soundtrack of terror” episode a listen. Also, be sure to let the show’s hosts Zach Betonte and Andy Swope know what your favourite spooky piece of music is.

No doubt that music is an essential part of any horror experience, but one soundtrack I personally love is Ennio Morricone’s score in “The Thing”. It’s a very chilling piece that fits perfectly into the bleak atmosphere of the story.
That is a great score as well. Listening to the episode I was amazed by the sheer number of brilliant horror scores that have come out over the years.
