The name Anders Walter might not mean anything to you now but it will soon enough. He is a talent destined for great things. His latest short film Helium has made the Oscar shortlist for “Best Live Action Short” and is currently waiting to see if it makes the final five nominees. This accomplishment is even more impressive considering that Walter’s last short film, 9 Meter, made last year’s shortlist as well. 9 Meter tells the touching story of a teenager who believes that breaking his long jump records will help to keep his dying mother alive. Skillfully executed and featuring a great performance by Benjamin Gabrielsen, 9 Meter pulls at the heartstrings without ever feeling false.
